ON HUMAN TRUTH

The reflection I underwent upon realising this aspect of being human; we are subjected to our individual truth, amalgamated from obtained knowledge (which sometimes can be collected through mere hearsay that resonates with intense emotions) and meaningful experiences, this often builds itself as a fort of reality, where it is unsurpassed by forces that is inferior to their self-belief. Every human perceives an event with different interpretations, and a society is usually a collection of inarguable humans with similar worldviews (often changeable according to the whims of those in power) where the truth transcended into autonomous power, becoming rule of law, and subjecting its subjects to obligations with an outcome of persecution if it ever was unfulfilled, such is the power of human truth.

I term this as human truth, because humans have ideated the concept of a consistent and unchangeable condition which will remain true no matter the circumstances (as it is the great human desire to have convenience in understanding the changing world, that at least one thing will always remain predictable) and such power is passed narrowly, to this noun: truth, where every human seem to perk its evolved ears upon hearing its abstractions; where something can be unchallenged, yet is in possession of every human being. “In my days, such events never have happened, and that is my truth” said an older, retired and despaired old man upon gazing social ills in the society, and another argued “well this is the truth, that we are all broken and irrevocable”. Such is the irreconcilable nature of some human truths, have dragged us through wars, and countless painful histories. With an abundance of truths, some are shareable and some are just blatantly explosive when confronted, what does it mean anyway, to have truth?

Egocentric truths, where it accepts only its versions, and allow partaking of other human truths as a form of an acceptance of itself, that whatever is alike to it, must be as good as itself, is what initiated societies. What happens then, if the Truth ever manifests in front of humans, with a face that denies any image of truth they have ever recognised? Will it be fought against rancorously, defending their long lasting traditions of their concept of truth, in which they have built such a great legacy upon, that anything other is simply to be repelled, and to be repelled with great force? Do humans even ever seek the Truth, the absolute knowledge itself? Or do they only care about truth that provides a sense of undeniable existence, where everything they do, is justified?

I then reflect upon the stories of prophets; Noah, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, Zarathustra and many others, who came upon a people in error (or aptly in this context, people who justified even their wrongdoings as a part of their own truth and reality which blinded them from imminent destruction) and preached the Truth, revealed to them from the Heavens without intermissions, the purest knowledge mankind can ever obtain, and the rejection they face from the people, as it challenges, disputes, or negates their own, longstanding truths. Although, to ideate an ideal is a different notion to actually seeing the ideal manifest or the qualia of an idea is an entire different existence to the abstraction of any idea, it shows the contentionality of human, that even when confronted with absolute Truth, none, even the Heavens, can turn humans so easily from the truth they have created for themselves. Truly the prophets, have seen the worst of this. Not only they broke their existing human truths, but they also have to be broken by the despair of rejection from their people, even when the Truth itself, was conveyed to their people. Recurrent despair, such as the fate of the prophets.

However, their names remain on the lips of different humans, in different geography, in different ages; they have obtained timelessness, unbound by the physical constraints of the world. That, in itself is a proof of their proprietorship on the Truth. Helplessly, I wonder, if my writings will escape such bindings too, then only I know, whether the Truth have somehow, touched my consciousness too, for I have been broken countless times, by this life.
